When Jeff Bezos started Amazon in 1994, he operated out of a garage that he had turned into an office. His desk was made from a door attached to some 2x4s for legs.

Amazon.com officially launched as an online bookstore in July 1995. Within its first month, it shipped books to all 50 states in the U.S. and 45 countries.

In its early days, Amazon faced financial losses and logistical challenges. Despite these struggles, the company’s revenues began to grow.

Over the years, Amazon expanded beyond books, becoming a dominant player in e-commerce. It now has a market cap of approximately $1.86 trillion, making it one of the most successful companies in the world.
